Top Things to Do in Mauritius

Mauritius is one of the most beautiful Islands I have ever been to. Between the crystal clear water and delicious food, there is bound to be adventure for everyone!

If you are anything like me, and like a little adventure mixed with some relaxation, here are some of the top things to do in Mauritius.

Colored Earth of Chamarel and Falls

Visit the Colored Earth of Chamarel and Falls

The Colored Earth of Chamarel and Falls are some of the most beautiful spots in all of Mauritius. Located in the southwestern side of the island in the Rivière Noire District, this geological formation is one of the countries most loved attractions and is a must for all visitors.

Hike to the top of Le Pouce

Hike to the top of Le Pouce

If you are looking for some of the best views in all of Mauritius, you absolutely must hike to the top of Le Pouce. All together, this hike should take you about 3 hours but every second is worth the amazing view and wild monkeys at the end!

Swim with sea turtles in Mauritius

Swim with sea turtles in the crystal blue water

This was probably the most amazing moment of my entire stay in Mauritius. All along the shore on Trou Aux Biches, you will find locals out with their boats wanting to take you to swim with the turtles. I highly recommend jumping in one of their boats and taking a ride, you won’t regret it!

ATV tour in Mauritius

ATV through sugarcane fields

Known for their production of sugar, taking an ATV tour through the hundreds of sugarcane fields is an absolute must while visiting the island. I personally recommend a tour with DS Adventures!

Port Louis

Explore Port Louis

Port Louis is the perfect spot to try delicious Mauritian food, shop for souvenirs, and mingle with locals. As the capital of Mauritius, this little city on the west side of the island is famous for its French colonial architecture and scenic ocean views.

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Gardens

Hello, quick question did you take a camera to take pictures throughout the voyage? if so which type of camera do you have because I’m really interested in purchasing one. Thanks again!!

      Hi Angie!

I do have a nice camera but I actually decided not to bring it with me (mainly because I didn’t have room for it in my bags). With all of the walking and in-country travel you will be doing, a nice camera can be a hassle to keep track of. If you are looking at buying one though, I highly recommend the Cannon EOS Rebel (I have the T5 but there are newer models)!
