Top 5 Hacks for Surviving a Long Flight…

Long flights can be hard and exhausting! As someone who has been on numerous long flights (10+ hours), I feel like I have gotten the hang of doing my best to survive. Grab a notebook and a pen because here are my Top 5 Hacks for Surviving a Long Flight!

Hack #1: Sleep

If you are flying overnight, sleeping will not only make the time go by faster, but will allow you to better adjust to the time difference at your destination. I know it can be hard to get comfortable, but this is something that is key to not feeling drained when you land. Some of my sleep necessities are…

Earplugs or noise canceling headphones: Anker Soundcore Life, Beats Studio3 Wireless Noise Cancelling Over-Ear Headphones , True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earbuds

Eye Mask: Silk Sleep Mask for Men Women, Comfortable Super Soft Eye Mask with Adjustable Strap

Neck pillow or plane pillow: Travel Pillow 100% Pure Memory Foam Neck Pillow

Melatonin (if needed): I personally recommend the Olly brand

Hack #2: Pre Downloaded Movies and T.V. Shows

Although many planes have built in T.V.’s in the headrest, it is not guaranteed that they will work during your flight. I always download a few movies on my iPad or phone before I leave just in case the T.V isn’t working or there is nothing that I want to watch. You can download a variety of movies and shows on apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Disney Plus, and so many more.

Hack #3: Continue Night/Morning Routine on Plane

This is something that I rely heavily on when during a long flight. Not only does it keep you in some sort of a normal routine, it helps you have an easier time sleeping and waking up with major time differences. Keeping a small toiletry bag, that is easy to access, in your carry is something that I started doing a while ago and it works great. I always like to keep a small toothbrush with toothpaste, face wipes, lotion, and a few other small items that come in handy.

Hack #4: Keep Hydrated and Walk

Staying hydrated is so so so important. It is super easy to not drink enough on travel days and that can lead to feeling sick days after arriving at your destination. Drinking plenty of water before the flight, on the flight, and after the flight is a must. I like to bring an empty water bottle through security and fill it up multiple times throughout my travel day. It is also important to get up a few times during the flight just to keep the blood in your legs moving. Something as simple as walking up the aisle a few times, or just standing in the back by the bathrooms, can really make a difference.

Hack #5: Comfy (yet practical) Clothing

If you are sitting on a plane for 10+ hours, you are going to want to be comfy. Wearing something that you can relax in, as well as travel in, can really make a difference during your travel day. I typically go for leggings and a sweatshirt but wear whatever makes you happy! Check out my Ultimate SAS Packing Guide for some of my favorite travel items.
