Top 10 Beaches in the World
As a Florida girl, born and raised, I am pretty picky when it comes to beaches. With the beach only about 8 miles from my house, I have spent countless hours sitting in the sun and enjoying the Florida coast. When it comes to travel, I love experiencing the water from all around the world. Some of my absolute best travel memories have been made either watching the sunrise or sunset from numerous different countries. Because of my love for the ocean, I have compiled a list of some of the most amazing beaches around the world (in my opinion) and I want to share them with you!
In no particular order, here are the Top 10 Beaches in the World
Clearwater Beach, Florida
It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t start this post with my hometown beach!! Florida’s 1,350 mile coastline gives the state some of the most amazing beaches in the U.S., if not the world, and Clearwater beach is definitely at the top. The white sand and clear blue water makes this the perfect beach destination for any occasion. Not only is this a great place to relax on the beach, but Clearwater is perfect for walking along Pier 60, spotting dolphins during sunrise or sunset, visiting the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, and enjoying some of the best food Florida has to offer!
Anse Source d’Argent, La Digue, Seychelles
Let’s be real for a second… you can’t go wrong with any of the beaches on any of the Seychelles Islands. Each and every one of them is absolute paradise and should be at the top of your bucket list! Anse Source d’Argent is absolutely breathtaking and, in my opinion, is one of the best that you can visit. Complete with beautiful palm trees and gigantic boulders, you’ll find this strip of shoreline along the southwest coast of La Digue. The beach is only about a mile south of the island’s ferry port and can be easily reached by foot or by bike. Because this beach is so beautiful, it can get crowded during the months of December, January, and August. If you are looking for a more relaxing and quiet vacation, look into going during the off months for most tourists.
Red Sand Beach, Kaihalulu Bay, Hawaii
Just like Seychelles, there are so many amazing beaches that surround Hawaii. If you are looking for something a little more exotic, Red Sand Beach on Kaihalulu Bay is the perfect place for you to visit. This unique beach in a hidden cove is unlike anything you will ever see. The beach is filled with red sand from a crumbling red cinder cone that cuts deep into the Ka’uiki Head on the eastern side of the island. The ocean side of the cove is protected by black lava rock making this an even more amazing beach to visit. If the water is calm, this is a great beach for swimming and snorkeling! Just a quick warning though, part of the trail has been lost to a landslide so it is a bit dangerous to navigate so please be careful.
El Nido, Palawan, Philippines
If you are looking for absolute paradise look no further!!! Far off on Palawan island is where you will find El Nido. El Nido is filled with so many different breathtaking beaches such as Buena Suerte Beach, Caalan Beach, Yoga Beach, Papaya Beach, and so many more. El Nido beaches are known for not being as touristy so you will get a sense of pure relaxation all year round. From discovering caves, snorkeling through corals, and climbing along the rocky beach, everyone is sure to find something to keep them entertained. As one of the Top 10 Beaches in the World, El Nido is a must add to your bucket list!
La Cuvette Beach Grand Bay, Mauritius
I don’t know how else to put it, but the beaches in Mauritius are absolutely one of a kind. Having been to numerous beaches around the island, I can safely say you will not make a mistake in picking one beach over the other here because they are all truly amazing. The island of Mauritius is fairly small too, so I definitely recommend driving around and visiting as many as you can. One of my personal favorites however is La Cuvette Beach Grand Bay. This serene beach is located near the town of Grand Bay in the northwest part of the island. Since La Cuvette is much smaller than most other beaches around the island, it tends to be less touristy and crowded allowing for a more peaceful experience. I definitely recommend taking a boat out a little ways to swim with sea turtles in their natural environment (Trou Aux Biches is one of the best beaches for this). It was one of the best experiences I’ve had in all of my travels. You can check out my Mauritius travel guide for more information!
Sugar Beach (Jalousie Beach), St. Lucia
As one of the top rated beaches in the Caribbean, Jalousie Beach will bring you right to paradise with its powdery white sand mountainous background. This picturesque beach is located just south of the village of Soufriere, at the base of the Piton mountains, and is one of the best beaches on the entire island. This is the perfect place for snorkeling and diving with marine life where a 1,800-foot drop is at the base of the mountains. If snorkeling and diving are not your things that’s not a worry, there are plenty of opportunities for paddleboarding, kayaking, or zipping around on a jet ski!
South Water Caye, Belize
South Water Caye is one of Belize’s best-kept secrets. If relaxing and doing nothing is the main reason for your vacation this is the perfect place for you! South Water Caye, located in Southern Belize, is a 15-acre stretch off the beaten track lined with coconut trees and hammocks. The Pelican Beach Resort is right on the main stretch and is the perfect location to spend days soaking in the sun, reading, and recharging.
Matira Beach, Bora Bora, French Polynesia
As one of the top 25 ranked beaches in the world, Matira Beach easily made my list of Top 10 Beaches in the World and is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful places you will ever visit. Located at the southern tip of Bora Bora’s mainland, you find the perfect mix of both tourist and local attractions to keep you busy. The white sand and clear, calm waters make this the perfect location for watching the sunset, snorkeling, and sunbathing all day long. The Intercontinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort is highly sought out for their overwater bungalows, and I highly recommend adding this beach to your bucket list (it’s already on mine)!
Cocoa Island, Maldives
For as long as I remember, the Maldives has been a top 5 destination for me. This specific resort sits right in the South Malé atoll and is the perfect beach getaway. Each bungalow is surrounded by private marine-rich reefs and bright blue waters. If you are looking for the most relaxing beach vacation you could imagine, this resort was built for you.
Leeward Beach, Turks and Caicos
To round out my list of Top 10 Beaches in the World we are going to end with the beautiful island of Turks and Caicos. Turks and Caicos is absolute paradise, and because of that, you truly can’t go wrong with any of the beaches on this beautiful island. However, If you are looking for something a little less crowded, Leeward Beach is for you! With no luxury resorts around this beach, the atmosphere tends to be a little less rowdy than many of the other beaches on the island. Leeward Beach is a great family destination perfect for kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, wake boarding, and spotting seashells.
