Ultimate Tokyo Travel Guide…

If you’ve never been to Tokyo, be prepared to have your mind blown! This city is like nothing i’ve ever seen before… from the insane technology, amazing food, and one of a kind culture, Tokyo is sure to leave a lasting impression on you!

TOP ATTRACTIONS

Tokyo Disney Land
Tokyo Disney Land

If you are a Disney fan, taking a trip out to Tokyo Disneyland & Tokyo Disney Sea is a must! I found that Disneyland was much similar to Magic Kingdom, however, Disney Sea is unlike anything in the United States. To get from Tokyo Station to Disneyland, take the JR Keiyo Line or JR Musashino Line and go to Maihama Station. Both take the same amount of time so you pick!

Senso-ji Temple
Senso-ji Temple, Tokyo

Senso-ji Temple, in my opinion, is one of the best in Tokyo. According to legend, this temple located in Tokyo’s Asakusa district was built to honor the sister of two brothers who kept trying to return the goddess of mercy statue, to the Sumida River. It is a very crowded place so visiting early in the morning will allow for the best pictures!

Imperial Palace
Imperial Palace, Tokyo

Home to the Imperial family, the Imperial Palace is a beautiful property to visit in Tokyo. Behind the gates, you will find the main palace, the private residences of the Imperial Family, an archive, museums and many administrative offices. Except for the East Gardens on specific days, most of the palace grounds are not open to the public. Be sure to check the schedule before going.

Shibuya Crossing
Shibuya Crossing, Tokyo

Known as the worlds busiest pedestrian crossings in the world, Shibuya Crossing is an experience that you don’t want to miss. When the pedestrian light turns green, approximately 2,500 individuals cross the intersection at the same time from all directions. In order to truly experience this, it’s recommended to visit during rush hours!

Asakusa
Asakusa, Tokyo

This Tokyo neighborhood is home to the Senso-ji Temple and is full of little shops and delicious restaurants. If you are looking to purchase one of a kind souvenirs, sample amazing street food, or just spend a day walking around, this is the place to go. I could spend hours upon hours in Asakusa!

Tsukiji Fish Market
Tsukiji Fish Market, Tokyo

World famous for once auctioning a bluefin tuna for $3 million, here you can find the best seafood in all of Tokyo. Filled with shops and local restaurants, this is a great place for all seafood lovers. If you are a morning person, check out the auctions that happen before sunrise.

Mount Fuji
Mount Fuji, Tokyo

A trip to Japan isn’t complete without a trip to see Mount Fuji. Located about 100 kilometers southwest of Tokyo, I recommend booking a day tour that will bring you to the best viewing spots!

WHERE TO STAY

The Millennials Shibuya

Just like Kyoto, if you are looking for a more modern (and cheaper) capsule hotel, this is the place for you. It’s located right in Shibuya (great locations) with free wifi and amazing amenities. This is a great budget friendly option as well.

Park Hotel Tokyo

Each guest room at the Park Hotel is decorated differently to represent the Japanese culture. If you are looking for more of a family hotel, this is the place for you!

Tokyo Station Hotel

Tokyo Station Hotel is beautiful! Located in Tokyo Station, this is the perfect hotel for easy use of the metro system. There are many different types of rooms for all numbers of guest, however it is a little more pricy.

Hostels

If you are a solo traveler, or just looking for a more budget friendly option, hostels are the way to go. Book and Bed Tokyo Asakusa, Nui.Hostel & Bar Lounge, and Citan Hostel are some of the best!

TOKYO’S BEST EATS

Tokyo has some of the best food in the entire world! Here are some of my favorites that I highly recommend you try!!

Yes, these are pancakes, and yes, they are AMAZING! This little place is called A Happy Pancake and there are many locations throughout Tokyo. This is a must breakfast stop!

You can’t go to Tokyo without a stop at Ichiran Ramen. Just like A Happy Pancake, there are many locations all around Tokyo.

Sushi Conveyer Restaurants are a MUST in Tokyo! Katsumidori Meguro Branch is one of the most popular, but there are thousands! If you are not a fan of sushi, there are options for you!

After this, you will never want a normal shaved ice again! Shaved ice in Tokyo is made with real fruit and a condensed milk topping. All I have to say is AMAZING!!

If you want some crazy, colorful food, I highly recommend taking a trip to Shibuya. These famous stands are known for their rainbow cotton candy and grilled cheese, however, this is more of a tourist trap so be aware.
